Our Fall 2015 / Spring 2016 Clients' PhD Application Results
Dear Readers,
It is with great pride that we announce our clients' exceptional results for the past PhD programs application season. Once again our clients who applied all received at least one offer, and all of whom received support funding.
In this past season we had 14 full clients – those who both (at least partial) consulted with us and entrusted their documents to our proofreading and editing services. We have received full feedback from 13 out of these clients all of whom received an offer and all of whom will be taking up a post-master's level studies program position, as well as having made themselves available to our future clients through our new Pathfinders program. One client has still not given us any feedback, but his LinkedIn status leads me to think that he too received some form of offer and he was applying to extremely competitive programs. In addition to our 13 full clients that achieved this success we had several other clients. Three clients began with us receiving our full advice in consultation, however for a number of reasons they did not have us work on their application materials. Another several clients turned to us to get emergency assistance on application materials only which we edited to the best of our ability but we were not deeply involved in their applications process.
Among those three clients that received our consultations only, the first is a very exceptional young lady whose documents needed no further editing and who went on to gain admission to Harvard Law School. Another applicant received help on his documents directly from his professor and therefore we were of no further service. The third client dropped out of our consulting and editing services process in mid stream. Given comments made to me during our consultation sessions I believe that personal and/or financial reasons caused her to give up on her study abroad dreams this past season.
At this juncture I'd like to remind her and all of our clients of our dedication to your future. If anyone begins the consultative process with us during a given application season and then needs to give that up for any reason they are allowed and encouraged to freely (and that means free of any additional consultation fees) return to us at any juncture and re-start their application consultative process with us. In fact we had a master's level client who did that with us this year and we got him into a great program.
Moreover, in the case of failure to gain admission results, we are prepared to go through the entire process again with our PhD applicant clients, charging only 50% on any further editing of documents. Similarly with master's level applicants who do not get an offer – all services are %50 off including consultation fees. We will also consider discounting clients who merely want to try again for better results.
I'd like to mention that a number of our clients that gained admission were struggling to overcome serious obstacles to their success. Those obstacles ranged from total failure to gain any admissions results in the prior year, low GPA, a research focus on a rare or lesser studied sub-field of their discipline, change of program, pursuing preparation while intermittently, irregularly on leave from military service, and / or low English examination scores. Several also began the application process incredibly late and with no real preparation of the ground for success by contacting potential advisers and PhD programs in advance. Given these substantial obstacles the fact that we have achieved such results gives me great pride in our clients and in all of our efforts. We believe in our clients and do all we can to assist them to attain the successes that they deserve. We have always specialized in troubleshooting and helping "underdog" clients. That said we will always tell you honestly what your chances of success are likely to be.
Of course among these successes is our Fulbright scholar, "Anna." You can read about her experience (here in Chinese) or further in upcoming articles on Fulbright application preparation. She was our fourth success in only two years. Including Anna, several of our clients will be getting in excess of 45k$ US in financial aid annually. That is a truly remarkable result.
In addition, our client who gained two full scholarships in the field of music performance was one of our star clients – and this despite having an absolutely miserable time with an unexpected interview with key faculty members in her top, target program – that is a point that I forgot to mention in my last article regard interviews. One really must be prepared even for the unexpected interviews when applying to advanced and competitive programs.
Also I am thrilled to see one of our clients gaining admission offers in Europe at UCL in the UK and EPFL in Switzerland. I look forward to extending those successes in Europe next year and consequently we will be offering discounts to those applying to doctoral programs in the EU in the coming year.
This year our full clients applied to the fields of chemistry, physics, materials science, biotechnology, plant and food science, computer science (incl. machine learning), pharmaceutical science, actuary science, mechanical engineering, statistics, music and East Asian studies.
The following chart is a list of the programs to which they received offers:
In closing, I want to once again congratulate all our clients on these great victories that we were honored to play a part in. We wish you all the best in the years to come. Also, I want to invite potential doctorate program applicants to get in touch with us and let us advise you on getting your applications process started. Now is the time to prepare the grounds of your future admissions successes.
Anyone interested in a free assessment of their application potential can add me to their Skype account and send me a message with your key details. Also I will be considering taking on one or two pro bono or discounted cases for those struggling financially, so I encourage you to contact us and not give up on your dreams to study abroad.
Belief is the first key to success.
